If Russian President Vladimir Putin uses nuclear weapons, the world's reaction should be immediate.

This was stated by NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov on the eve of the Third Summit of the Crimean Platform, answering a question about the opinion that our efforts to de-occupy Crimea by military means will lead to nuclear escalation, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"He (Putin - ed.) can scare with anything. But if, God forbid, nuclear weapons are used, then the world's response must be immediate and appropriate. And it should be, first of all, a political decision. And then the question is: when will the countries that have nuclear weapons start to use them? Then it's a matter of a short period of time," Danilov said.

He said that he did not think China would give Putin permission to 'throw' tactical nuclear missiles. "And I'm more than sure that he (Russian President - ed.) has already been warned about this," the NSDC Secretary said.

As reported, Polish President Andrzej Duda doubts the likelihood of Russia using nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
