Czech Prime Minister opposes freezing war in Ukraine

Fiala said this at a meeting of Czech ambassadors, BRNO Daily reports, according to Ukrinform.

 Fiala said that the chances for a quick resolution of the conflict (war in Ukraine) have proved slim and are getting slimmer. And that the consequences of Russia’s aggression are multiple and to some extent, they also contribute to a certain degree to the nervousness we feel in our country.

 “There is even the threat of stalemate and the reality of a frozen conflict, according to many analysts. I don’t think this is the only scenario we must pursue, but we must also keep this in mind and think about it in our strategies,” he noted.

As the Prime Minister reminded, China is also following the conflict in Ukraine in view of its own ambitions.

Fiala emphasized that the Czech Republic should continue to provide civilian and military assistance to Ukraine and support its integration into the EU and NATO, while preparing for the country's post-war reconstruction.

He warned that Russia's attempts to recreate spheres of influence must be stopped, otherwise it will encourage not only the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin, but also other aggressors.

As reported, Fiala also praised Ukraine's progress on its path to the EU and NATO. He assured that Prague would provide maximum assistance to Ukraine "not only by opening doors," but also by persuading other partners to understand Kyiv's ambitions and help implement reforms.
