Border guards confirm detonation of mines on border with Belarus - no casualties
Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, said this in a comment to Ukrinform.
"Several mines detonated from a minefield on one of the sections of the border with Belarus due to lightning, no one was injured," Demchenko said.
According to him, there are strict restrictions on the state border for anyone other than units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. "Therefore, minefields threaten only those who want to come to us with war," added Demchenko.
According to media reports, at about 3:30 a.m. on August 29, several TM-62M anti-tank mines detonated on a railway bridge 800 meters from the Slovechno railway station.
"It is reported that it was preliminarily caused by a lightning strike. The explosion damaged the bridge pillars and destroyed the railroad tracks in both directions. There is no information about the victims," wrote 'Belaruski Gayun'.
