Military sappers neutralize over 3,500 explosive devices in Ukraine in past week
That’s according to the Army’s Support Forces press service, Ukrinform reports.
"Due to the ongoing war, more than a third of the territory of Ukraine is contaminated with mines and explosive objects. Engineering and sapper groups of the Support Forces run daily inspections in de-occupied territories to clear them of explosive objects and return a safe life to Ukrainians," the report reads.
Over the past week, specialists from the Support Forces examined and cleared more than 260 hectares of farmland and other territories.
In total, since the outset of Russia’s large-scale armed aggression, demining teams of the Support Forces have cleared more than 11,285 hectares of agricultural land, neutralizing 135,792 explosive objects.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ministry of Economy expects that artificial intelligence technology will help the Ukrainian demining effort.
