Following Ukraine’s attack on enemy air bases in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk and Luhansk with U.S.-provided ATACMS long-range missiles, nine Russian helicopters were destroyed and 15 damaged.

The relevant statement was made by Oryx analyst Jacub Janovsky on the social media platform X, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the overview of Russian equipment losses, seven Ka-52 ‘Alligator’ attack helicopters and two Mi-8 helicopters were destroyed. Fifteen more helicopters (eight Ka-52s and seven Mi-8s) were damaged.

Janovsky mentioned that the helicopters labeled as ‘beyond repair’ had been listed as damaged. Most likely, they are total losses, but there has been no sufficient evidence to list them as destroyed.

A reminder that, on October 17, 2023, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a successful operation called DRAGONFLY, attacking enemy air bases in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk and Luhansk.

The Washington Post reported that the Ukrainian military had fired a version of U.S.-provided ATACMS long-range missiles to strike Russian military aircraft and ammunition depots in the temporarily occupied areas.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that U.S.-provided ATACMS long-range missiles had been used in Ukraine.
