The Russian invasion forces keep trying to besiege the strategic town of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine while seeing no success in their assault efforts near Stepove, Avdivka, Tonenke, and Severne as Ukraine’s defense forces eliminated 460 soldiers and officers and destroyed almost 50 units of military hardware in the past day alone.

That’s according to Oleksandr Shtupun, the spokesman for the Tavria group of troops, Ukrinform reports.

"Our soldiers are firmly holding their defenses so the offensive efforts undertaken by the enemy in the areas of Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, and Severne saw no success. There, our soldiers repelled 15 assaults. In the Marinka direction, the enemy does not reduce the intensity of operations either. Twenty attacks were repelled near Marinka and Novomykhailivka. On the Shakhtarske and Zaporizhzhia axes, the enemy's attempts to advance were repelled in the areas of Vodiane, Novoukrainka, Staromaiorske, and Verbove," Shtupun told the national telethon, adding that the Ukrainian forces continue their offensive operation toward Melitopol.

According to the spokesman, the Russians do not stop trying to besiege Avdiivka, actively employing aviation in the area. South of Avdiivka, the invasion forces attempted to deploy mechanized columns but suffered significant losses. In total, the enemy last day launched 16 airstrikes in the Tavria operational zone, most of them targeting Donetsk region.

Shtupun also reported that over the past 24 hours, the Russian death toll amounted to 460, while the Ukrainian forces destroyed 49 units of enemy equipment that the invaders deployed mostly south of Avdiivka.

These are 13 tanks, nine armored fighting vehicles, 10 artillery systems, a Tor air defense system, nine UAVs, six trucks, and a unit of specialized equipment, as well as three ammunition depots, two 240mm 2S4 Tiulpan self-propelled mortars that are used to destroy fortifications.

The spokesman recalled that near Avdiivka, the enemy, as before, is attacking by mostly deploying infantry units, but recently mechanized columns have also been spotted, which Ukrainian soldiers effectively destroyed.

Shtupun noted that the enemy is moving his units from other operational zones. In general, since October 10, when the Russians launched an offensive toward Avdiivka, the enemy lost more than 5,000 personnel as killed and wounded, and up to 400 units of military hardware.

As reported by Ukrinform, from February 24, 2022 to October 26, 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated 297,120 Russian military personnel, including 810 soldiers over the past day.

Moreover, the Ukrainian troops destroyed 5,141 (+29 over the past day) enemy tanks, 9,715 (+18) armored fighting vehicles, 7,155 (+30) artillery systems, 834 (+1) MLR systems, 556 (+2) air defense systems, 320 warplanes, 324 helicopters, 5,389 (+17) operational-tactical UAVs, 1,538 cruise missiles, 20 warships/cutters, 1 submarine, 9,507 (+33) trucks and fuel tankers, and 1,010 (+3) units of specialized equipment.
