The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, discussed the situation in the current phase of the Russo-Ukrainian war with the former commander of the US Special Operations Command, Admiral William McRaven.

Budanov reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform saw.

"During the meeting, we discussed the situation at the current stage of the Russo-Ukrainian war, as well as exchanged views on the state and prospects of regional and global security," the comment reads.

According to Budanov, "McRaven expressed his deep support for Ukraine and our nation in the desire to liberate the temporarily occupied Ukrainian lands from Russian invaders."

The head of the GUR agency recalled that "Admiral McRaven is an experienced and wise military leader who participated in the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf. He played a key role in planning and executing many outstanding U.S. special operations, including Operation Neptune's Spear (2011), when Osama bin Laden was eliminated.”

"McRaven authored a number of books about the theory and practice of special operations, about his experience in the American army, about leadership and self-discipline. His book Make Your Bed. Little things That Can Change Your Life... And Maybe The world" became a New York Times bestseller and was translated into several languages, including Ukrainian," Budanov said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ukrainian Navy Command and the former commander of the US SOCOM, Admiral (Reserve) William McRaven, discussed the needs of the Ukrainian fleet.
