Enemy increases number of artillery attacks and regroups in Tavria sector – military spox
Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun, spokesperson for the joint press center of the defense forces of the Tavria sector, said this on Ukrainian television, according to Ukrinform.
"As of 6 a.m., the enemy has not launched any airstrikes in our operational area for two days. However, yesterday they slightly increased artillery activity, with 703 artillery attacks recorded. Yesterday there were fewer combat engagements - only 30 - and the use of FPV drones. But the enemy is regrouping. We are preparing for intensified activity of the enemy,” said Shtupun.
He noted that yesterday the occupiers concentrated their main efforts near Avdiivka, Nevelske and Pervomaiske. A total of 23 enemy attacks were repelled in the Avdiivka sector.
In addition, according to the spokesman, six attacks were repelled near Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka. Russian forces also made an unsuccessful attempt to advance west of Verbove.
Shtupun noted that the Russian grouping in the Avdiivka sector amounts to over 40,000 troops. The enemy's losses reached almost 300 people and 27 units of military equipment over the day.
"In the area of the Tavria operational and strategic grouping of troops, [Russia’s] total losses yesterday amounted to 296 people and 27 units of military equipment, including 3 tanks, 1 armored vehicle, 1 artillery system and 6 vehicles. Also, 1 enemy ammunition depot ceased to exist," the spokesman said.
According to him, six Russian servicemen surrendered yesterday.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, in the Avdiivka sector, the Defense Forces repelled 11 enemy attacks in the area of Avdiivka and 12 more attacks south of Sieverne, Vodiane, Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region over the past day.
