Sweden, UK join drone coalition in support of Ukraine
That's according to a statement posted on the website of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Ukrinform reports.
Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson announced this decision at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on January 23.
The United Kingdom also announced its intention to join the coalition and become its co-leader together with Latvia.
The drone and electronic warfare coalition was created by Ukraine and Latvia. The decision was made during the visit of Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds to Kyiv. Now it has four participating countries.
"Technologies, not people, have to fight. The drone coalition will be another step towards realizing this idea. It will save many lives. Strengthening and developing the production of unmanned systems will allow us to transform the army and make the latest technologies a reality today," said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization.
Earlier, Chernohorenko presented to partners Ukraine's need for unmanned systems, means of electronic warfare and technologies that will protect critical infrastructure.
