Russian hackers attack Ukraine MoD resources
That’s according to the press service of Defense Forces South, Ukrinform reports.
"Last day, attacks on Ukraine’s government and commercial sectors were recorded. Also, attacks by Russia-funded hacker groups were launched on the resources of the Ministry of Defense - through phishing, distribution of remote code execution malware, and blocking of access to websites. Most of them got blocked automatically," the report says.
As noted, the ongoing attack involves phishing e-mails on the topics such as "Information from the State Special Communications Service of Ukraine" and "State Emergency Service of Ukraine". In addition, malicious software was detected, being distributed by the GRU-controlled Gamaredon group, aiming to obtain access to personal and confidential user data and information.
The press service warned of a potential cyber threat that could become critical for personal data, and called users to remain vigilant, especially when receiving letters with attachments from unknown sources, as those may conceal malware.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine recorded a large-scale cyberattack on one of their data centers.
