War update: 82 combat clashes on front lines in past day
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its morning update posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
“In the past day, 82 combat engagements took place. Russian invaders carried out 2 missile attacks and 19 airstrikes, as well as 68 MLRS attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged,” the report says.
The following areas were hit by enemy airstrikes: Komisarove of the Kharkiv region; Serebrianka Forestry of the Luhansk region; Terny, Rozdolivka, Druzhkivka, Avdiivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka of the Donetsk region; Stavky of the Mykolaiv region.
More than 100 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under enemy artillery fire.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, the operational situation remains without significant changes.
In the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna sectors, the enemy keeps military presence in the border area, conducting active subversive activities in order to prevent the transfer of Ukrainian troops to threatening directions and increasing the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled six enemy attacks near Synkivka, Tabaivka in the Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled five enemy attacks near Terny and Torske in the Donetsk region and two more attacks near Makiivka in the Luhansk region.
In the Bakhmut sector, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled eight enemy attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back enemy attempts to encircle Avdiivka.
In the Marinka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 25 enemy attacks on Heorhiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarske sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian strikes southeast of Vodiane, Zolota Nyva and west of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region.
In the Zaporizhzhia sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks southeast of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson sector, the defense forces continue to take measures to expand the bridgehead. Despite significant losses, the enemy still attempts to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions. In the past day, the enemy carried out six unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops.
“At the same time, our warriors continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line,” the General Staff said.
In the past day, Ukrainian missile forces struck three enemy manpower, weapons and military equipment clusters and one more important enemy target.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 379,610 Russian aggressors from February 24, 2022, to January 25, 2024.
