Netherlands joins IT coalition for Ukraine, makes first contribution
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry said this in a post on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
The new member of the coalition has already contributed EUR 10 million.
According to the post, the objective of the IT coalition is to support the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the field of IT, communications and cyber security. In addition to the Netherlands, 11 more countries are part of the initiative, including Ukraine, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Japan.
Apart from the Netherlands, Denmark allocated DKK 91 million (over EUR 12 million) for the cyber defense of Ukraine as part of the IT coalition. The funds will be spent on the cyber security projects of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and are an important contribution to the long-term support of the country's cyber defense.
"Technology can help turn a positional war into a maneuverable one. The IT coalition is set to provide the necessary digital foundation for the deployment of any new technological solutions. I am grateful to the partners who continue to support us in every area, but especially in IT, cyber defense and innovation," said Kateryna Chernohorenko, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization.
The IT coalition is a special group of states within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, led by Estonia and Luxembourg. Contributions to the IT coalition were earlier made by Estonia (EUR 500,000) and Luxembourg (EUR 10 million). Lithuania and Latvia also provided assistance in the form of licenses and equipment.
