Zelensky: We will see good result for Ukraine in terms of additional Patriots in near future
He said this on Thursday during a joint press conference with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Italy, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We have discussed the possibility of having five of them [Patriot systems], and our partners are working on this issue. This does not mean that tomorrow we will have all five systems, but we will see a good result for Ukraine in the near future," Zelensky said.
He also stressed that Ukraine currently needs at least seven Patriot batteries. Although this will not completely cover the sky from danger, this number will provide more reliable protection of our territory.
US President Joe Biden, for his part, noted that at least five countries have agreed to provide additional Patriot batteries and other air defence systems. In addition, he stressed that Ukraine's needs are now being considered as a priority, so other customers, he said, "will have to wait".
As reported by Ukrinform, the G7 leaders' summit began on 13 June, to which President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was also invited. The meeting is being held in Italy, which holds the presidency of the Group of Seven this year.
