Finland sending new military aid package to Ukraine

Finland has announced it is sending the 24th military aid package worth EUR 159 million to Ukraine.

According to Yle, President Alexander Stubb approved the relevant decision based on a government proposal, Ukrinform reports.

"Finland is committed to supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia's unjustified attack. This is not only about Ukraine, but ultimately about the right of all free people to exist. Finns have learned from our own history how important this issue is," Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen said.

For security reasons, Finland did not disclose the content, method of delivery or the schedule of its latest military materiel package.

The total value of defense equipment sent by Finland to Ukraine is EUR 2.2 billion.

Finland is taking part in a European joint procurement of ammunition for Ukraine.

Finland is also participating in a Czech-led initiative to jointly purchase ammunition for Ukraine. The first draft of amendments to the 2024 budget envisages the allocation of funds for the Ministry of Defense to participate in this initiative.

Additionally, Finland has decided to participate in the armor coalition led by Poland, Germany and Italy, as well as the information technology coalition led by Estonia and Luxembourg. Both coalitions aim to support Ukraine in the long term.

As reported by Ukrinform, Finnish instructors have trained thousands of Ukrainian soldiers in their country and abroad.
