Belarus continues to support Russia in its war against Ukraine - State Border Guard Service

Belarus continues to support Russia in its full-scale war against Ukraine, therefore it remains a threatening direction for Ukraine.

Ukrainian State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko said this on Ukrainian television, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Belarus made the most important provocation on February 24, 2022, when it opened its border to Russian troops, and, unfortunately, Belarus now also continues to support the terrorist country in this full-scale war that has been waged against our state. Therefore, in fact, the border with Belarus remains a threatening direction for us, and we continue to strengthen it both in terms of engineering, and actually keep the necessary number of our forces and means there, so as to prevent any actions that may occur from Belarusian territory," Demchenko said.

Commenting on statements from Belarus about the "mounting tension" on the border with Ukraine, he noted that "this is not the first time that Belarus has provided such information that Ukraine poses a threat, Ukraine is getting stronger."

"This is yet another round of this information operation, which Belarus will conduct with the support of Russia. I can also remind you that from the 21st [of June] they have been conducting an inspection of the combat readiness of their units, so perhaps this is one of the components to shift the responsibility onto Ukraine once again," Demchenko added.
