Emergency evacuation: 711 residents relocated from Toretsk community in past three days
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the regional police.
"Emergency evacuation from the Toretsk community: 711 residents, including 20 children, have been evacuated in three days. The police in cooperation with the State Emergency Service, the Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Toretsk Civil and Military Administration are rescuing people from the settlements under fire. More than 20 joint groups are working, including ‘White Angels’, paramedics, and special forces," the statement said.
It is noted that recently the Toretsk community has been under massive attacks by Russian troops – the enemy drops up to 20 bombs daily on Toretsk and the villages of Pivnichne, Shcherbynivka, New York, Nelipivka.
The police clarified that the city of Toretsk is located three kilometers from the contact line, and at least 35% of the houses have already been destroyed.
“About 5,000 residents remain in the city, and about 10,000 in the community. Many of them are now seeking to evacuate. To facilitate the rescue of people, evacuation measures have been initiated with the involvement of substantial forces and resources," law enforcers emphasized.
As reported, in the Donetsk region, Russian invaders have intensified shelling of settlements since December 2023. It was decided to extend the mandatory evacuation of the population.
On June 6, 2024, the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine announced the forced evacuation of children from seven settlements in the Donetsk region, including the Toretsk city community.
In early June 2024, about 472,000 people remained in the Donetsk region. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, more than 1.425 million people, including more than 168.77 thousand children, have been evacuated from the Donetsk region to safer regions.
