Petr Pavel: Russia has no signs of strategic breakthrough on battlefield in Ukraine

Russia has no signs of a strategic breakthrough on the battlefield in Ukraine, which is why it has no incentive to sit down at the negotiating table.

Czech President Petr Pavel said this in an interview with Czech Radio, according to Radio Prague International.

According to the Czech leader, Russia's proposals to end the war have so far been ultimatums and have provided for Ukraine's unconditional surrender, rather than a strong basis for peace talks.

Pavel noted that Russia will continue to try to make territorial gains in Ukraine. He noted that it is important to support Ukraine so that Russia realizes that the only way to end the conflict is through negotiations, not further continuation of hostilities.

"Russia has not achieved any significant territorial successes, and there are no signs of a strategic breakthrough on its part, but it has more resources than Ukraine," the Czech president said.

He added that Ukraine proves with its attitude, the heroism of the military and civilians that it has the determination and the chance to defend itself.

As reported, on June 28, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the plan to end the war would be ready this year.
