Sentsov on end of war: We have adult society, people need to be told truth

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Ukrinform by Ukrainian film director and soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleh Sentsov. 

"I think we need to tell people the truth. We have a fairly mature society that has been through a lot; Talking to them like children, and rocking them: "Everything will be fine" is not enough. We need to do certain things, in particular in the information space, in the social space, in the aspect of the unity of society, in the issue of mobilization, etc.," Oleh Sentsov said. 

He believes that it was necessary to prepare the population for a long and difficult war at its beginning when there was a general upsurge. It is good to live psychologically with expectations of an imminent victory, but the country needs strategic planning, Oleh Sentsov believes.

The serviceman noted the construction of fortifications, and the introduction of the "Reserve+" system, but mobilization, in his opinion, is slow, this does not allow to fully replace those who are fighting on the front line. 

"What is being done is half-measures, but we cannot act like this when Russia is giving its all. We all need to "mobilize", then we can count on parity. Otherwise, the Russians will continue to put pressure on us," Sentsov is convinced.

According to him, the country must be ready to fight "long and seriously", the enemy will feel it, and Ukraine will have a better position in the negotiations.

"If Victory comes earlier, then good. But it is better to prepare for 10 years of war and win in a year than to prepare "by the end of the year" and fight ten," Sentsov stressed.
