Zelensky: New volunteer unit - Ukrainian Legion - will be created in Poland
This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk, Ukrinform reports.
"In our security agreement, we have recorded the formation and training of the Ukrainian Legion, a new volunteer unit, in Poland. We have a very positive experience of the Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade, and based on this experience, we will give Ukrainian citizens who are now in Poland, Lithuania, and other EU countries the opportunity to voluntarily join the defence of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Legion will train in Poland and will be equipped by partners," Zelensky said.
According to him, every citizen of Ukraine will be able to sign a contract with the Armed Forces.
"Now our teams will work out all the nuances of this proposal," the President added.
He also stressed that the security agreement with Poland also provides for non-military cooperation: in intelligence, cybersecurity, and countering Russian disinformation.
As reported, on 8 July, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed a security agreement in Warsaw.
