Argentina's government plans to send military aid to Ukraine.

The country's defense minister, Luis Alfonso Petri, said this at the congress of right-wing forces of Latin America in Brazil, Ukrinform reports, citing Polskie Radio.

"In the past, Argentina exchanged hugs with Venezuela, Cuba and Iran, but now we are doing it with countries that are fighting for their survival," he said.

Argentina thus decided to "support Ukraine and Israel in their wars."

The minister said that Argentina had decided to apply to join NATO, buy F-16 fighter jets instead of Chinese machines and help Ukraine by sending it the weapons it needs to wage war with Russia.

"We cannot remain neutral in this situation. We must be on the side of countries that defend their freedom and democracy," Petri said.

Argentine President Javier Milei earlier called his participation in the Global Peace Summit part of "big changes" in his country, stressing that under his leadership it is returning to the civilized world and unconditionally supports Ukraine.
