The Netherlands is allocating an additional 300 million euros for the purchase of ammunition for F-16 fighter jets to be delivered to Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Dutch Ministry of Defence.

"The Netherlands is allocating an additional 300 million euros for the purchase of ammunition for F-16s, which the Netherlands will soon supply to Ukraine. This is in addition to the 150 million euros that were previously reserved for this purpose. We are talking about F-16 weapons that are purchased directly from the industry," the statement said, citing Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans' statement during the NATO summit in Washington.

According to him, these weapons are crucial.

"F-16s with the ammunition we are purchasing can help repel Russian attacks. Putin's aggression knows no borders, so our support must continue. By purchasing this additional ammunition for the F-16s, we want to send a message to Moscow that NATO Allies continue to stand by Ukraine. Russia must not win this war, it is also in our security interests," he stressed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans discussed with representatives of the US company Lockheed Martin the training of Ukrainian pilots for F-16s and said that the Netherlands would provide 18 fighter jets for a training centre in Romania by the end of 2025.
