Russian forces failed to advance in the Borova sector in Ukraine's eastern Kharkiv region, as they had planned, intensifying their attacks.

Maksym Zhorin, deputy commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade of Ukraine's Armed Forces, said this in a post on the Telegram messaging app, Ukrinform reports.

"The enemy did plan to make a breakthrough here and move forward, but they could not take even a meter of land. The situation is currently under control in the area of responsibility of the 3rd Assault Brigade," the post said.

According to Zhorin, the Russians were prevented from advancing due to the creation of "fire bags" in which the occupiers were destroyed "mainly using drones and infantry."

He added that the Russians continued local assault operations, but the main potential has been lost as of now.

On June 18, the 3rd Assault Brigade announced that the occupiers' immediate task was to reach Cherneshchyna and Pershotravneve and then capture the village of Borova in the Kharkiv region. This would allow the Russians to advance to the Luhansk region.

The brigade said that the invading army was sending entire platoons and companies, using first-person view (FPV) drones, guided aerial bombs and chemical weapons to storm Ukrainian positions.

On June 18, the DeepState monitoring group reported that the Russian army had increased the number of personnel to 10,000 and concentrated 450 units of military equipment in the area from Raihorodok to Novovodiane to repeat the attack on the village of Borova in the Kharkiv region.
