Ukrainian air defense intercepts five missiles, 11 Shahed drones
Ukrainian Air Force Commander Lieutenant-General Mykola Oleshchuk said this in a post on the Telegram messaging app, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, the occupiers attacked Ukraine with five Kh-101 cruise missiles (launched from Russia's Saratov region) late on Thursday, July 11, and 19 Shahed 131/136 strike drones and UAVs of an undetermined type (launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk region) overnight into Friday, July 12.
The main direction of the attack was Starokostiantyniv.
Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units of the Ukrainian Air Force, mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and electronic warfare units were involved in repelling the enemy's aerial attack.
Ukraine's air defense forces intercepted all missiles in the Khmelnytskyi, Sumy and Cherkasy regions. They also shot down 11 Shahed drones and UAVs of an undetermined type in the Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kherson and Sumy regions.
Oleshchuk said that the location of the remaining eight drones was lost.
"According to preliminary reports, to overload air defense, the enemy uses simulators of attack UAVs. There was no information about casualties and damage. If you find any suspicious objects, please do not take any action on your own, but immediately report their location to the police, State Emergency Service or local administration," he added.
