Stoltenberg rejects idea of shooting down Russian missiles from Polish territory
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this in an interview with Ukraine's United News telethon, Ukrinform reports, citing ArmyInform.
He commented on the proposal to intercept Russian missiles over Ukraine from the territory of Poland using air defense systems that belong to NATO countries.
Stoltenberg said that NATO would support Ukraine and allies had increased their support, including through various air defense systems. F-16s are also important in this context, he added. NATO will provide more ground-based air defense systems to Ukraine and ammunition for the systems that the country already has, Stoltenberg said.
He noted that Ukraine would receive Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems, but NATO's policy remains unchanged: the alliance will not participate in the war.
Stoltenberg said NATO would not be a party to the conflict and added that allies support Ukraine in destroying Russian warplanes.
