Spain sending new batch of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine
That's according to a statement posted on the website of the Spanish Defense Ministry, Ukrinform reports.
"The multimodal transport of ten Leopard 2A4 battle tanks to Ukraine has begun, after they completed an exhaustive repair, tune-up and readiness process at the Santa Barbara Sistemas factory in Alcala de Guadaira (Seville) and passed the corresponding tests to verify their full operability," the statement reads.
The ministry noted that a new batch of aid would arrive in Poland this weekend and would then be delivered to the Ukrainian military.
With this new shipment of Leopard 2A4 battle tanks, Spain has donated 20 of these tanks to Ukraine, with plans to prepare or donate another new set during the second half of 2024.
Spain announced in late May that it would provide Ukraine with military aid worth EUR 1.1 billion.
