A 22-year-old Polish citizen, Tomasz Senkala, was killed at the front in combat in Ukraine.

This was reported by Ukrinform citing RMF24.

The Polish soldier was killed near the village of Dibrova in the Luhansk region on May 13, but his death has only just become known.

On Saturday, an official funeral ceremony for the hero took place at Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv.

It is noted that Senkala had been in Ukraine since last fall, serving in the International Legion.

The farewell ceremony was attended by the Polish hero's comrades-in-arms, a military chaplain, and the Polish Consul in Kyiv, Pawel Ovad. The anthems of Ukraine and Poland were played at the cemetery, and the coffin of the deceased was covered with the flags of the two countries.

“Today we are here to say a farewell to the soldier who gave his life for the freedom of Ukraine. With our presence and prayers, we show our gratitude for what he did for our country. Thanks to the soldiers of the International Legion, the whole world learned that we will survive and win the war with Russia,” the newspaper quoted one of the speakers at the farewell ceremony.

It is noted that Tomasz Senkala will be buried in his homeland, in the Lublin Voivodeship.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, about ten Polish citizens have been killed on the frontline in Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
