Yesterday, the Russian invasion force hit the Nikopol district in Ukraine using munitions charged with flechettes – little sharp arrows capable of inflicting serious injuries and killing people.

A typical charge contains 7,000 to 9,000 such deadly darts, depending on a caliber, according to Yevhen Yevtushenko, chief of the district military administration, Ukrinform reports.

"Yesterday, Russian’s barrel artillery shelled the settlement in the Marhanets community. Multiple projectiles hit an educational facility. This is not the first such strike - Illinka and Dobra Nadia suffer from armed aggression almost every day. Unfortunately, the school was significantly damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured ", the report says.

It is noted that the occupiers also used flechettes – metal projectiles just a few centimeters that are rarely used in modern warfare. The name is derived from the French word for “little arrows”.

"Once again, while shelling a settlement populated by civilians, the invaders employed ammunition designed to inflict maximum damage on people. This is not the first use of flechettes – in two years of strikes, residents of almost all coastal settlements found similar darts on the streets, in their fences, roofs, and cars," added Yevtushenko.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on July 18, the Russians attacked the Nikopol district twice, launching kamikaze drones, and fired heavy artillery multiple times.
