Ukraine’s air defense forces intercepted seven of the eight Russian Shahed-type one-way attack UAVs launched at the country.

That’s according to the Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, who broke the news on Telegram, as seen by Ukrinform.

The Russians hit Ukraine with a Kh-69 guided air missile from the airspace over Kursk region and with eight Shahed-type attack UAVs, also launched from Kursk region.

Mobile air defense groups and e-warfare units of the Ukrainian Air Force joined efforts to repel the attack.

Air defense forces shot down seven drones of the Shahed-131/136 type.

“Active countermeasures” led to the Kh-69 guided air missile missing its target, the report reads, stopping short of detailing the nature of countermeasures applied.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on July 21, the Russians attacked critical infrastructure facilities in Sumy region’s Shostka community.
