Lithuanian Prime Minister visits summer camp in Palanga where children from Ukraine vacationing

Šimonytė talked to Ukrainian children, attended an educational excursion to the Amber Museum, and took part in an art therapy session for children at the Art Museum of the famous Lithuanian sculptor Antanas Montis.

The camp, which allows Ukrainian children to spend a peaceful summer on the shores of the Baltic Sea, has been organized for two years for children aged 7 to 17 who have suffered from Russia's war against Ukraine. These are children who have lost one of their parents, those who have been directly affected, or children from socially vulnerable and large families.

The camp is funded by the Palanga municipality with the support of the Lithuanian Red Cross.

This summer, a total of four shifts of camp participants, each consisting of 15 children, have already visited or will visit Palanga. The children spend nine days at sea and two more days on the road.

On Monday, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė also visited the Rehabilitation Hospital in Palanga, where she familiarized herself with the conditions and capabilities of the facility.

As reported, the day before, the wife of the Ukrainian ambassador to Lithuania, Anna Beshta, and the wife of the British ambassador to Lithuania, Pascale Olley, visited Ukrainian children from the Odesa Specialized Children's Home, which was evacuated to Lithuania due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
