Pentagon allocates another USD 2 B to help Ukraine
This is stated in the US government's report of 25 July, Reuters reports, according to Ukrinform.
As noted, the US Department of Defence has faced problems in accurately assessing defence items sent to Ukraine due to unclear accounting definitions.
In its report, the Pentagon said that employees used replacement cost to calculate military aid, rather than the cost of weapons at the time of purchase and depreciation.
In 2023, a similar situation arose when the Pentagon reported that an accounting error had overstated the cost of weapons sent to Kyiv in 2022-2023, which made it possible to make additional deliveries worth USD 6.2 billion.
As reported by Ukrinform, on 20 April this year, the US House of Representatives passed a national security bill that provides USD 95 billion in military aid to Ukraine, Israel and other US allies, including about USD 61 billion for Ukraine.
