Zelensky visits frontline command post in Kharkiv region, presents awards to SOF soldiers
“Kharkiv direction. The forward command post of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the area of Vovchansk. Today, I had the honor to be there to congratulate our Special Forces warriors on their professional day and to present them with state awards,” the President posted on Telegram.
Zelensky also thanked the defenders for their bravery, heroic operations behind enemy lines and during the defense and de-occupation of Ukrainian cities and villages.
According to the president's website, Zelensky emphasized that the SOF soldiers are fighting in the hottest sectors of the front, successfully conducting special operations and performing tasks.
“I want to thank you for your heroic operations both behind enemy lines and during the defense and de-occupation of our territories, cities and villages, starting with the defense of the Donetsk airport in 2014, then Hostomel, the Kherson region and the operation in the Kharkiv region. Please, take care of yourselves. Today you are in this area, which is probably one of the most difficult. The whole country is counting on you, we will definitely win,” the Head of State said.
Zelensky presented the warriors with state awards, including two titles of Hero of Ukraine, and gave the 142nd Training Center of the Special Operations Forces the honorary name of Khorunzhii-General Vsevolod Zmiienko.
As reported, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on July 29. The holiday was established by presidential decree of July 26, 2016.
