Russia could have lost up to 750,000 soldiers in Ukraine - Austrian expert

Colonel of the Austrian Armed Forces Markus Reisner, head of the Institute for Officer Training at the Theresian Military Academy, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"An interesting study was recently published, which I think is very well researched. It says that perhaps 100,000 to 150,000 Russian soldiers have already been killed," Reisner said, commenting on how he assesses Russian losses in the war against Ukraine.

According to him, if the lessons of military history are taken into account as well as "the fact that approximately 3-4 times more should be counted as wounded," then it is about huge losses.

"In general, this may amount to 500,000 to 750,000 people, both dead and wounded. And this, in my opinion, is quite realistic, given the intensity of the conflict," the expert said.

At the same time, he noted that the Ukrainian side also "suffered very heavy losses."

"But the problem lies in demography and the human potential of both states. And here it can be seen that Russia relies on the human potential of 150 million people, with the corresponding potential for recruitment," he added.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated earlier that Russian army losses in the war against Ukraine were three times higher than those of Ukraine and that in some areas they were "even higher."
