DIU hackers attacked Russian financial sector and government resources for week and obtained confidential data - source
A source in the intelligence community told Ukrinform.
According to the source, cyber specialists of the hit the online services of major Russian banks, including the Central Bank, telecommunications service providers, national payment systems, social networks and messengers, government resources and dozens of other services.
In particular, VTB Bank, Alfa Bank, SebrBank, Raiffeisen Bank, RSHB Bank, Bars, Rosbank, Gazprombank, T-Bank, iBank, Dom. RF, and the Bank of Russia. On the last day of the attack, the resources of the Russian Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Tax Service were also affected.
All of the attacked resources were involved in one way or another in supporting or financing Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, the source said.
"As of 19:00 on 30 July, the Russians have not managed to restore the proper functioning of leading banking and payment systems, mobile operators, social networks and Internet providers. The websites of the Russian Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Tax Service are still experiencing malfunctions," the source said.
He noted that as a result of the cyberattack, millions of users in all regions of the Russian Federation could not use Internet services.
The intelligence service called the operation "a prelude to more interesting events".
As Ukrinform reported, a large-scale cyberattack by the DIU began on the morning of 23 July. As a result of the attack, the work of payment systems in Russia, mobile applications of banks, personal accounts, public transport payment systems, etc. was stopped or significantly complicated.
