Ukrinform
The United States has agreed to equip F-16 fighter jets that Ukraine will receive from its European allies with American-made missiles.

This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, Ukrinform reports.

The weapons for the F-16, which will be provided by the United States, will include AGM-88 HARM air-to-ground missiles, JDAM long-range guided bombs and GLSDB small-sized precision munitions.

The United States also plans to transfer medium-range AMRAAM and short-range AIM-9X air-to-air missiles.

The WSJ interlocutors declined to name specific dates for the transfer of F-16s and their ammunition to Ukraine for security reasons, but noted that despite the limited stocks of these missiles and ammunition, Ukraine will receive enough to meet its most urgent needs.

As reported by Ukrinform, Colonel of the Austrian Armed Forces, Head of the Institute for Officer Training at the Teresian Military Academy, Markus Reisner, said that F-16 fighters are not some kind of "Wunderwaffe" (miracle weapon), but their delivery to Ukraine is an important contribution to the protection of Ukraine's critical infrastructure, as well as to the possible displacement of Russian combat aircraft deep into Russia and thus reduce Russia's use of guided aerial bombs (KAB).
