RUSSIAN AIR BASES DEFEAT

On the night of August 14, the units of the Air Forces, together with the Special Operations Forces, and the Main Intelligence Directorate, attacked the Russian military air bases “Khalino”, “Savasleyka”, “Borisoglebsk” and “Baltimor”, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

  • Military air bases of the Russian Federation are legitimate military targets; army aircraft Su-34 fighter-bombers, Su-35 fighters, and other enemy military aircraft are based on them.
  • The enemy uses these air bases to launch guided aerial bombs on the Ukrainian positions on the front lines and peaceful Ukrainian cities.
  • The main objects of damage were warehouses of fuel and lubricant materials and aviation means of damage.
  • The strikes of the Ukrainian Defence Forces on Russian air bases were successful; the results of the attack are being clarified.
  • It is believed to have been the largest attack on Russian military air bases during this war. The coordinated combat work of all Defence Forces components continues.

NEGLECTING OF THE NATIONAL MINORITIES RIGHTS IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

On August 14, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that, from August 1, 2024, Russia would withdraw from the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe for the Protection of National Minorities.

  • The Framework Convention of the Council of Europe for the Protection of National Minorities of 1995 prohibits discrimination and forced assimilation of national minorities and protects the freedom to practice one's religion and speak one's own language freely.
  • Russia signed this convention in 1996 but has never followed it.
  • It is not for nothing that Russia has the reputation of a “prison of nations” because it oppresses and russifies both the titular peoples of its national republics and national minorities, primarily Ukrainians.
  • A demonstrative withdrawal from the Framework Convention is an international démarche and a declaration of war against the cultures, languages, and religions of the non-Russian peoples of the Russian Federation.
  • Russia consistently refuses its international obligations and has embarked on the path of destroying international law and the global security system.
