Russians launch drones following shelling in Sumy region – ambulance, fire truck damaged

On Thursday night and morning, the Russians launched nine attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy region, resulting in 24 explosions.

This is according to the report by the Sumy Regional Military Administration on Facebook, as cited by Ukrinform.

"At nighttime and in the morning, Russians launched nine attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy region. A total of 24 explosions were recorded. The Bilopillia, Richki, Esman, Shalyhyne, and Znob-Novhorod communities came under fire," the post reads.

Specifically, two guided aerial bombs (two explosions) were launched at Shalyhyne community; artillery fire (two explosions) targeted Esman community; also, Russians hit Bilopillia community with AGS fire (15 explosions).

In addition, three Geran-2-type drones struck Richki community, resulting in fires in an administrative building and two vehicles.

In Znob-Novhorod community, the shelling set fire to apartments in a two-story residential building and a car. While emergency assistance was being provided, the Russians carried out repeat strikes, targeting emergency service vehicles with FPV drones, damaging an ambulance and a fire truck.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, overnight, October 17, the Ukrainian anti-aircraft units shot down five Russian Shahed-type attack drones over Sumy region.
