Reports of Russia producing 25 Oreshnik missiles per month are false - CCD

Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, said this in a Telegram post, according to Ukrinform.

"The media outlet spreading this disinformation in the English-speaking world acts as a facade to legitimize narratives beneficial to the Russian Federation and facilitate their broader dissemination," Kovalenko said.

He stressed that Western sanctions had significantly slowed Russia's production cycle for high-tech missiles. While Russia continues to produce missiles like the Kh-101 and Kalibr and relies heavily on Shahed strike drones, manufacturing advanced missiles such as the Kinzhal remains limited to single-digit quantities. The Oreshnik missile, featuring an even more complex production cycle, is unlikely to be produced on a large scale.

"The purpose of the fake is to spread fear in Western societies," Kovalenko said.

Shortly after a December 6 meeting in Minsk, Alexander Lukashenko requested new weapons systems from Russian President Vladimir Putin, including the Oreshnik, during the signing of an agreement on security guarantees for the so-called "Union State of Belarus" and Russia.
