Ukrainian Navy details Russian Kalibr carriers in Black Sea
Ukrainian Navy Spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk said this on a TV broadcast, Ukrinform reports.
"They (Russians in the Black Sea) remain there because leaving would essentially mean capitulation. Among the vessels present, the main threat comes from cruise missile carriers – three Project 636 submarines, three small missile warships, and two frigates, including the Admiral Makarov. The ships can carry up to eight launchers, while the submarines can hold up to four. These represent the primary danger to us," Pletenchuk explained.
He noted that these assets in the Azov-Black Sea region have a notable limitation: they lack universal launch systems.
"In other words, besides Kalibr missiles, they cannot launch anything else – unlike, for instance, a newly-built frigate that Russia recently completed for India. That vessel features more advanced, universal launch systems capable of deploying Oniks and Tsyrkon missiles," the spokesperson stated.
Pletenchuk also confirmed that Russia has definitively lost strategic initiative in the Black Sea.
Ass previously reported, Ukrainian naval drones have recently conducted targeted strikes on Russian surveillance systems located on occupied gas platforms near Crimea.
