Ukraine’s defense intelligence hacks Russian Duma, Constitutional Court servers

Ukrinform
Cyber experts with the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry gained control of the web servers of Russia’s official government portals, including the websites of the State Duma and the Constitutional Court.

That’s according to an informed source in the intelligence agency, who spoke with Ukrinform.

"On the occasion of Russia’s official state holiday, ‘Constitution Day’, marked on December 12, cyber experts with the GUR posted a banner on the website of the Russian State Duma saying ‘A country named Russia does not exist", while the Constitutional Court website was blocked altogether, showing users an ‘error’ upon an attempt to visit it. The DDoS attack on these Russian web resources completely paralyzed their work and disabled the servers," the agency's source reported.

It is currently known that the HUR cyber stunt was confirmed by Russian propagandists, who are circulating on their platform a message from the “Government of the Russian Federation” that “an organized hacker group attacked and disabled website servers, and also compromised major databases”.

It should be recalled that last week, HUR cyber experts executed a large-scale attack on the systems of Russia’s Gazprombank. Terminals were put out of operation throughout Russia.

As a result of a powerful DDoS attack, Gazprombank clients lost access to online banking services and the bank’s mobile user accounts.
