War update: 174 clashes along frontlines, Pokrovsk sector remaining hottest

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on January 28, as many as 174 combat engagements took place on the front line between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the Russian invaders. Specifically, in the Pokrovsk sector, the enemy launched 75 attacks.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, releasing data on the situation at 22:00 on Tuesday, January 28, as per Ukrinform.

"Overall, there have been 174 combat engagements since the beginning of the day. The Ukrainian defenders continue to resolutely repel the enemy's attempts to advance into our territory, effectively inflicting fire damage. The Russian invaders launched one missile strike and 26 airstrikes today, using one missile and 51 guided bombs, 966 kamikaze drones, and carried out almost 4,000 artillery shellings on our forces' positions and populated areas," the report states.

In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy unsuccessfully launched seven assaults on the Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk and Starytsia.

In the Kupiansk sector, the Russian invaders conducted offensive actions near Kutkivka, Kindrashivka, Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Bohuslavka. Two combat engagements are ongoing. The Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 enemy attacks.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian positions nine times near Novoiehorivka, Bohuslavka, Novoliubivka, Makiivka, and in the Serebrianskyi forest. One combat engagement is still ongoing.

In the Siversk sector, the enemy launched 17 attacks on the Ukrainian positions near Bilohorivka, Novosilka, and Verkhniokamianske. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy attempted to storm the Ukrainian positions near Predtechyne, Bila Hora, and Chasiv Yar 11 times.

In the Toretsk sector, the Ukrainian forces repelled 17 enemy attacks in the areas of Krymske, Dyliivka, Dachne, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka. Another combat engagement is still ongoing. Additionally, the enemy carried out an airstrike with four guided bombs on the settlement of Katerynivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the enemy launched 75 attacks today on the settlements such as Vodiane Druhe, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Sukhyi Yar, Lysivka, Zelenе, Vidrodzhennia, Shevchenko, Pokrovsk, Serhiivka, Udachne, Nadiivka, Uspenivka, Novovasylivka, Novooleksandrivka, Oleksiivka, Dachne, Bohdanivka, Kurakhove, and Ulaky. At the same time, they launched airstrikes with guided bombs on the settlements of Andriivka and Udachne.

In this sector, according to preliminary data, the Ukrainian troops eliminated 275 invaders, of whom 146 were killed. Also, four motorcycles, four vehicles, one mortar, two satellite communication devices, two UAV antennas were destroyed, and one motorcycle and mortar were damaged.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the enemy made seven attempts to break through the Ukrainian defenses near Kostiantynopil and Rozlyv. Moreover, they conducted airstrikes with seven guided bombs on the settlements of Komar and Novyi Komar.

In the Huliaipole sector, the invaders made five attacks on the settlement of Novosilka.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian occupiers dropped six guided aerial bombs near the settlement of Kalynivske.

In the Prydniprovske sector, the Russian forces carried out one assault on the Ukrainian positions but were unsuccessful and withdrew.

In Russia’s Kursk region, the Ukrainian defenders repelled ten enemy attacks today, while one combat engagement is still ongoing. Also, the enemy carried out 15 airstrikes, dropped 27 guided bombs, and carried out 255 artillery shellings, including three from multiple rocket launch systems.

On other directions, the operational situation has not changed.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine highlighted the efforts of the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, the 81st Separate Airborne Slobozhanska Brigade, the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa, the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade, and the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade, who are effectively destroying the enemy, inflicting significant losses in both personnel and equipment.
