
Today marks third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine
Over the three years of the full-scale war, Ukraine has inflicted significant losses on Russia in terms of manpower, weapons, and equipment, Ukrinform reports.
The Russian army’s total combat losses in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to February 24, 2025, amounted to nearly 868,230 troops.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine have also destroyed 10,177 Russian tanks, 21,157 armored combat vehicles, 23,626 artillery systems, 1,299 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,081 air defense systems, 370 aircraft, 331 helicopters, 26,645 unmanned aerial vehicles, 3,064 cruise missiles, 28 warships/cutters, 1 submarine, 38,444 motor vehicles, and 3,757 special equipment units.
It is also worth noting that in August 2024, the Defense Forces of Ukraine launched an operation in Russia’s Kursk region, where there were nearly 11,000 Russian military personnel, primarily conscripts at that time. The Defense Forces have taken control of about 1,300 square kilometers in Russia's Kursk region since the start of their operation. As of February 14, 2025, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the Russian army's total losses in the Kursk region had already exceeded 48,000 troops, including about 20,000 killed in action.
At the same time, according to ISW estimates, Russian troops occupied approximately 99% of the Luhansk region, 66% of the Donetsk region, and 73% of the Zaporizhzhia and the Kherson regions.
According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, more than 46,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed, tens of thousands are missing, and about 380,000 have been wounded.
The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that 599 children were killed and more than 1,762 children sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of Russia's full-scale armed aggression in Ukraine. Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, stated that as of November 2024, the Russian Federation had deported or forcibly displaced 19,546 children during the full-scale invasion. At the same time, more than a thousand children were returned.
According to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Ukraine has conducted 75 repatriations and returned home 7,017 bodies of fallen defenders since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. In addition, 4,131 prisoners of war have been returned to Ukraine as part of 61 swaps since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. In particular, 3,958 military personnel (3,749 men and 209 women) and 173 civilians (130 men and 43 women) were returned.
At the Munich Security Conference, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine is preparing a meeting of the leaders of partner countries in Kyiv on February 24 to discuss peace, security guarantees and the future of collective security.
