Poland tells how it can join peacekeeping mission in Ukraine
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Poland Wieslaw Kukula told Polish media on Thursday, Ukrinform reports citing Polsat News.
“We will not involve our military in the operation in Ukraine, but we take into account the fact that it is impossible to conduct this operation without the participation of Poland, at least because of our specific geopolitical position. We border Ukraine, and the most convenient network of road and other logistics connections runs from Poland to Ukraine,” Kukula said.
He added that Poland can provide a very wide range of assistance, primarily related to “basing troops that can provide guarantees [of security for Ukraine], their logistical support, as well as providing infrastructure for training and education of Ukrainian troops or maintaining the readiness of forces that will guarantee this stability and peace.”
As Ukrinform reported, next week the leaders of European countries, the UK and Canada will meet in Paris (France) to discuss their position on Ukraine and requirements for the peace process.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said that Putin should simply accept an unconditional ceasefire in the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to him, Putin should not be given the right to veto the presence of European peacekeepers in Ukraine if an agreement to end the war is reached.
