Russia loses 96 cruise missiles in strike on Engels-2 airbase – AFU General Staff
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, as per Ukrinform.
"According to updated information, Ukraine's Defense Forces strike on the Russian Aerospace Forces Engels-2 airbase on March 20, 2025, resulted in the loss of 96 air-launched cruise missiles, including due to secondary detonation," the statement reads.
These missiles were intended for three large-scale missile attacks against Ukraine throughout March and April.
Additionally, the strike destroyed large reserves of aviation fuel, which negatively impacts Russia's ability to sustain combat operations, the General Staff noted.
The successful strike significantly reduces Russia's missile strike capabilities and weakens its offensive potential.
As previously reported, overnight on March 20, units of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with other Defense Forces components, carried out the strike on the Engels airbase in Russia's Saratov region.
