General Staff confirms strikes on Novorossiysk oil terminal and Be-12 amphibious aircraft
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"Hits on the target and a large-scale fire at the terminal have been recorded," the statement said.
It was also confirmed that a Russian Be-12 anti-submarine amphibious aircraft was hit in the area of the village of Kacha, in temporarily occupied Crimea.
Assessment of the scale of damage is ongoing.
The Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added on Facebook that, according to preliminary data, six out of seven tanker loading racks, a key block of the pipeline system, and the oil metering unit were damaged in the terminal strike. Large fires broke out at the impact sites.
"The terminal is well known to Ukrainian UAVs – the March 2 attack caused a temporary pause in its operation," the USF recalled.
Sheskharis is the end point of Transneft's main oil pipelines and a key hub for exporting Urals crude via the Black Sea. Billions of dollars in revenue from its operation annually replenish the Russian budget, which finances the war against Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, Russia previously announced a drone attack on the port in Krasnodar Krai, where the Sheskharis oil terminal is located.
