Consequences of Russia’s strike on Odesa: Married couple killed; houses and merchant ship hit

As a result of the nighttime attack on Odesa, residential neighborhoods and a merchant ship in the port were hit.

According to Ukrinform, Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported this on Telegram.

“Consequences of the enemy attack on Odesa: Residential neighborhoods and a merchant ship were hit. Unfortunately, two people were killed,” Kiper wrote.

He reported that at least three residential buildings sustained significant damage as a result of strikes by attack drones. Apartments were destroyed, facades were damaged, and windows were shattered. State Emergency Service personnel evacuated 36 residents, including two children. Information regarding the consequences of the attack is being clarified.

Additionally, a UAV strike was recorded overnight on a merchant ship flying the flag of the Federation of Saint Kitts, and Nevisthat was heading to one of the ports of Great Odesa. A fire broke out on board, which the crew extinguished. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.

Meanwhile, Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, clarified that a married couple—both 75 years old—died as a result of the nighttime attack.

According to him, utility services have been working at the impact sites since last night, cleaning up the area and boarding up window openings. Operational headquarters have been set up where residents can receive assistance and advice regarding compensation under the e-Restoration program and from the city budget.

As reported, the Russian army attacked Odesa on the night of April 23–24. Hits on residential buildings were reported.
