Romania issues air raid alert during Russian drone attack on Odesa region
According to Ukrinform, this was reported in a press release from the Romanian Ministry of National Defense.
“On Friday morning, May 1st, the Russian Federation attacked the civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, in the vicinity of the river border with Romania. Following the detection of a group of 9 drones heading towards the Ukrainian airspace, the National Military Command Center (core) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the establishment of alert measures for the population in the North of Tulcea County, and a RO-Alert message was sent at 03:36,” the ministry reported.
Surveillance systems detected no radar signals in Romania’s national airspace.
“Explosions were reported on the Ukrainian bank of the Danube, in the port cities of Izmail and Kiliia. The air raid alert ended at 4:03 a.m.,” the statement said.
As reported by Ukrinform, a Russian attack in Odesa resulted in hits on residential high-rise buildings in the Khadzhybeiskyi district, with injuries reported.
