Russians attack railway in Zaporizhzhia, leaving one killed, others injured

On May 30, Russian military forces attacked railway infrastructure in the Zaporizhzhia region with a drone, killing a locomotive engineer.

According to Ukrinform, Ukraine's Ministry for Communities and Territories Development reported this on Facebook.

"The enemy continues to attack railway infrastructure and industry workers. Today in Zaporizhzhia, a UAV struck a diesel locomotive," the statement said.

The engineer was killed in the attack.

A second attack also damaged an electric locomotive.

"Once again, Russia is demonstrating that its targets are civilian infrastructure and the people who keep the country's transport system and economy running," the ministry emphasized.

Ukrzaliznytsia clarified that on May 30, around midday, Russians attacked railway infrastructure and rolling stock in Zaporizhzhia. An electric locomotive and a diesel locomotive were damaged.

The engineer was killed. Two other railway workers were injured and are receiving the necessary medical care.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of May 30, Russian drones destroyed the station building in Shostka, Sumy region, and damaged the infrastructure of the railway station.
