Storms to cost Odesa budget UAH 23 million
KYIV, June 7 /UKRINFORM/. Storms that hit the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa on May 31 will cost the city budget UAH 23 million.
Deputy Odesa Mayor Stitlana Bedreha said this at a special meeting of the city council's executive committee, a UKRINFORM correspondent reported.
"Total damage amounted to UAH 23 million. This amount does not include the cost of work to tackle the aftermath of the storms, downed trees and the sand washed off the beaches," she said.
According to Odesa Mayor Oleksiy Kostusev, UAH 1 million is required to restore the beach zone after the storms.
Reports said that one person was killed and 40 more were injured after storms swept over Odesa on May 31. The storms downed about 4,000 trees and damaged about 1,300 housing and utility buildings and other engineering facilities. Bad weather also caused blackouts to 1,500 houses.
