Two Ukrainians sentenced in Belarus, allegedly for ‘spying’
The relevant statement was made by Viasna Human Rights Center, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Stoliarchuk was sentenced to six years in jail, and Hudyk – to five.
According to the indictment, they “were collecting information about military equipment and objects in Belarus at the instruction of the Security Service of Ukraine”.
The verdict was delivered on November 24, 2022, but the result of the trial and the indictment were disclosed only in the propagandist film ‘Counterintelligence. Operations of the Belarusian KGB against the security services of the West and Ukraine’.
According to the plot, two Ukrainians were detained at the Brest region’s Makrany border checkpoint, as they were traveling by bus from Lviv to Brest. The detention date was not mentioned but, most likely, it happened in early 2022.
The indictment claims that they had been collecting information about military equipment and objects since 2018. Ihor Didko was detained together with them. However, instead of prosecution, he was deported from Belarus.
