A Russian asset, who turned out to be a Donetsk resident recruited by enemy intelligence, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for collecting sensitive data on the movement and positions of Ukrainian troops and HIMARS launchers they operate.

That’s according to the press office of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

"The man gathered intelligence on the deployment and movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk direction. First of all, he tried to identify possible combat positions of HIMARS launchers. In addition, he gave the occupiers the exact coordinates of critical infrastructure facilities in the region," the report says.

As noted, it was because of his "tips" that the invaders hit the water intake system in Selidove.

SBU operatives detained the perpetrator during a special raid in August. The court sentenced him to 12 years and 6 months in prison. He was found guilty under Part 7 Art. 111-1 and Part 2 Art. 28 (collaborative activity) of the Criminal Code.
